When TKTS went to London

The British discount ticket booth celebrates thirty years

Thirty years ago this summer, a wooden hut appeared in Leicester Square and changed the London theatre forever.

That tiny building, which officially opened on August 10, 1980, was London’s first half-price ticket booth, and it’s gone on to sell almost 11 million tickets to more than 1,200 shows.

TKTS Bklyn is my bag and it’s Free!

The spring is the most exciting time in the theatre as scores of new shows are opening on and Off Broadway and many are available at discounts at Theatre Development Fund’s TKTS Discount Booths. As an added incentive for theatre lovers in Brooklyn to check out these new shows, as well as long running shows they may have never seen, specially designed red TKTS Downtown Brooklyn tote bags will be distributed to ticket buyers throughout the month of April* exclusively at Theatre Development Fund’s TKTS Booth in Downtown Brooklyn in 1 MetroTech Center. These fun, reusable tote bags are courtesy of MetroTech BID.

HOURS & LOCATION INFO: TKTS Downtown Brooklyn is located on the ground floor of 1 MetroTech Center at the corner of Jay Street and Myrtle Avenue Promenade. Hours of operation are: Tuesday – Saturday from 11am to 6pm. TKTS sells tickets to same-day evening performances and next-day matinee performances (that is, matinee performances are sold the day before the performance) at discounts of up to 50% off full price. TKTS Downtown Brooklyn accepts credit cards, cash and travelers checks. It is located right outside of the Jay Street-Borough Hall station of the A, C and F trains and near the Court Street – Borough Hall station of the M, R, 2, 3, 4, 5 trains and the Lawrence Street station of the M, and R trains.

People who live and work in Brooklyn are invited to sign up for TKTS TODAY a daily e-blast which tells them what shows are for sale at TKTS Downtown Brooklyn at the time when the booth opens. They may sign up, at no cost, at: www.tdf.org/tkts.
